Course Abstract

This article provides information on the development of play in infants, toddlers, and young children. The primary emphasis is on the growth of specific aspects of play skills as children age, including the use of objects, agents, sequencing of actions, and development of play themes. General age guidelines for changes in those behaviors are also provided.

Maggie Watson received her Ph.D in 1986 from Bowling Green State University. She currently is a professor at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. Primary areas of interest include language development/disorders in children, and children's speech sound disorders.
