Course Abstract

This course will explore the supervisory/teaching relationship through the lens of generational differences and experiences. Background on each of the four generational cohorts currently in the workplace will be shared as well as research findings about the youngest generation, the Millennials. Possible solutions to communication misunderstandings thought to be based in part on generation gap differences will be suggested.

Course Learning Outcomes Preview Exam

  • After this course, participants will be able to identify three defining events for each of the four generational cohorts.
  • After this course, participants will be able to identify the possible impact of those defining events on members of each generation.
  • After this course, participants will be able to identify research findings about the Millennial generation.
  • After this course, participants will be able to select possible strategies for handling generation gap miscommunication in supervisory relationships.
