Promoting Our Profession

Spring is the season of renewal and rejuvenation! And since April is OT month, it is the perfect time to reinvigorate our commitment to our profession. To "promote" means to boost, raise, advance or increase your awareness. Here at OccupationalTherapy.com, we hope to promote OT by:

-Boosting your knowledge about a wide range of topics to increase your skills.

-Raising the bar for online learning by using highly regarded, knowledgeable clinicians and educators.

-Advancing your education in a specific area of interest by providing a series of seminars or tiered learning to help build upon your understanding of a specific topic.

-Increasing your knowledge via monthly letters from the editorial team, weekly live webinars and an extensive library of online CEU courses available in a variety of learning formats.

Spring is also a time of growth, and the OccupationalTherapy.com team is no exception. I am especially pleased to introduce the newest member of the OccupationalTherapy.com team, Michael Berthelette, MSM, OT/L. Michael, a co-founder of Progressus Therapy, possesses over 28 years of administrative and clinical experience in school-based practice/pediatrics and early intervention services. He is extremely active in the OT community and serves as our Vice President of Community Outreach & Education. Michael shares our commitment to serving the OTs in the field and providing quality continuing education. We look forward to sharing his knowledge with you!

If you would like to meet the entire OccupationalTherapy.com team, please visit us at AOTA booth #840. We’d love to have you stop by, say hello, grab a giveaway and enter to win a free CEU Total Access subscription. There’s no better place to celebrate OT month than the annual AOTA conference!

Finally, we can’t forget that April is also National Autism Awareness Month. There is so much we can all do in support of this multifaceted disorder – such as supporting national and local organizations, helping with fundraising and increasing our knowledge and understanding. There are currently more than 30 autism spectrum courses in our library including topics on evaluation, treatment interventions and ongoing research. Be sure to check out our latest course by Tara Warwick, MS, OTR/L: Strategies and Supports for Providing Early Intervention Services to Children with Autism.

We believe in our great profession and want to support the promotion of OT not just this special month but each and every month. Won’t you join us?

Looking forward to a great year,

Fawn Carson MS, OTR/L, ATP
