Wheelchair seating is designed to provide postural support and alignment, stability for function and mitigate pressure issues. This course will address assessment and intervention when working with a client who can only sit with external supports, referred to as a prop sitter.

This course introduces essential tremor and the impact of the symptom presentation on function and participation. Emphasis is on the use evidence-based practice to develop a person-centered, occupation-based approach to treatment of individuals with essential tremor.

This course will provide an evidence-based approach to applying yoga asana (postures) to the prevention of falls in older adults. Examples of application of asana in the treatment of older adults will be provided.

Due to the growing population of cancer survivors in the United States, it is imperative that therapists across practice settings are well-prepared to evaluate and treat patients with a history of cancer. This introductory course will provide clinicians with an overview of cancer rehabilitation essentials including safety considerations and common musculoskeletal and functional impairments frequently seen as side effects of cancer and cancer treatments.

Research indicates that 80% of our perception, learning and cognition are mediated by vision. This presentation will explore the available evaluation and intervention techniques for the brain injury client. Current evidence supporting these interventions with their implementation in a rehabilitation setting will be discussed.

This course will explore the use of teambuilding strategies to promote positivity, job satisfaction, decreased job stress and burnout, and improved client outcomes. Attendees will gain knowledge regarding current research on teambuilding, and how formal and informal leaders can employ a variety of practical, easy-to-implement teambuilding strategies.

This course will look at handwriting in children in 4th grade through high school. Ideas and strategies will be given to help this age group with their handwriting skills.

The role of Occupational Therapy Practitioners continues to evolve. Social entrepreneurs are actively involved in developing business models that create products and programs with a positive social impact. This course describes the elements of the mindset of a social entrepreneur and the application to the practice of occupational therapy.

This course will provide an overview of a process that can be used to systematically develop an occupational profile using an occupation theory as the guide. Tools linked to the theory will be introduced while the main concepts of the theory will be reviewed and applied through integrated learning activities.
