What would you suggest when OT and PT both get a screening referral from nursing for the same issue, for example transfers?
Answer
This might depend upon several factors. It might be reflective of my staffing at the time. If I have a agency person working in PT, but a long term staff person working in OT, I would have the OT perform the screen as they would be more familiar with the protocol of our facility. I would also want to know the particular reason that the client is being referred. Is is for transfers in general? Is it for toilet transfers only? The answer to this question would also guide my decision making.
