I have used the COPM in my adolescent outpatient mental health program, but it has been unsuccessful in finding the numeric measurement instructions for the bottom section that compares the initial with the six-month assessment. Any tips for locating and using this information so that I can complete the data aspect of the assessment?
Answer
It is very important to have the numeric measurement instructions for the bottom section so that you could compare change. It should be written on the COPM protocol itself so I am surprised if it is not. What I would do is follow the references from the bottom of each slide so that you could look up more where that measurement might be. You could also contact the people who developed the COPM in Canada. They are pretty accessible and would likely be happy to talk with you. It is usually in the protocol measure itself. The most recent edition of the COPM manual is the one that you need – do not go back to the older ones.
