It’s not often (if ever) I’ve been able to hear someone share very personal aspects of their life with the purpose of educating others. Kati’s presentation was so personal yet so professional. Kati was engaging and I loved the humor throughout.

Kathy Sorenson is an excellent speaker. It is like an invisible hand reaches for my chin to hold it still and allow great eye contact. The messages are clear: there are many eureka, a-ha moments and yet moments of real stupidity as I bang my head on the wall for any faux pas. I am grateful for Kathy's blunt wisdom, her humor and her willingness to share her heart. Great lecture.

It is great to hear first hand from someone with a disability about their lived experience and their "do and don't" commentary. I think I used to be one of those people to congratulate someone for doing absolutely nothing, but I've learned since that that's discriminatory and ridiculous in nature. I second the wheelchair in an amusement park experience!!!:)

I really appreciate the instructor sharing her personal experience. It was very thought provoking in the way that even the medical field is not always equipped to treat patients with disabilities. It brought up good areas of conversation and continuing to make the world more friendly for those with disabilities. The picture of her at the game made me realize that both disabled and able bodied people need to speak up to make the appropriate changes so all can enjoy activities. Thank you!

I felt it was great to have someone who has achieved so much be an example of what one can achieve in the OT field even though they may be disabled. Her achievements will provide many with the strength to achieve their goals despite having a dissability. I also felt that it was worthwhile having someone who was familiar with OT and had been wheelchair-bound talk about her disability and the stigma that comes with having a disability. She was an inspirational speaker.

having a questionnaire/survey sent out to other disabled individuals and getting at more rounded perspective of (do's dont's) would have been more helpful as different personalities can affect how they want others to interact with them. This was nice to hear one individuals perspective but it does not mean I can apply this to every interaction with other disabled individuals as they might not feel exactly the same.
