Use of Restraint or Seclusion Wording in the IEP

Question

Do you have any resources or advice as to how to include restraint/seclusion wording into the IEP if appropriate?

Answer

I wouldn't necessarily use those words in the IEP.  I would focus instead on the action that the staff is going to take should a student become a threat to himself or others.  I would then walk through each step in the IEP. These steps should be detailed in a behavior intervention plan.  The most appropriate person to lead this discussion would be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst or a BCBA.
