For today, remember that many of the clients we work with do not have independent control over their devices within the environment, particularly at home. That basic control is a safety issue, particularly for the phone and door. There are probably thousands of people in the US whom do not have the ability to make a phone call, or to leave their home independently. As occupational therapists we want our clients to be as independent as possible.
