For today, remember that many of the clients we work with do not have independent control over their devices within the environment, particularly at home. That basic control is a safety issue, particularly for the phone and door. There are probably thousands of people in the US whom do not have the ability to make a phone call, or to leave their home independently. As occupational therapists we want our clients to be as independent as possible.

She is a well-respected lecturer, both nationally and internationally, and has authored numerous texts, chapters, and articles. She is the co-editor of Seating and Wheeled Mobility: a clinical resource guide. She is the former NRRTS Continuing Education Curriculum Coordinator and Clinical Editor of NRRTS Directions magazine. Michelle is a RESNA Fellow and member of the Clinician Task Force. Michelle is a RESNA-certified ATP and SMS.
