Do you recommend that a client use one good fitting chair all day or have them switch between multiple seating surfaces such as a chair and then a stability ball?
Answer
It really depends upon the individual. Clients need a lot of core strength to use a stability ball and be comfortable in a work environment. In my opinion, it is better to be in a good-fitting chair that is adjustable, rather than changing to different chairs or seating surfaces throughout the day. I often take my clients to the store to ensure that they are getting a chair that fits their body well. It is optimal that the chair have adjustability so that they have the ability to change positions within the chair throughout the day, such as tilting the back or changing the height of the armrests.
