I look forward to taking the other courses on this topic. It is increasingly prevalent that kids on my caseload have experienced family and caregiver related trauma and this creates complexity in theri care. This course gave a more in depth perspective on the research and introduced some techniques for providing secure spaces and communication with them. The resources provided were really helpful.

This was by far one of the best continuing education seminars I've listened to. Alison did a great job explaining ACE's and the impact these events have on young children. Alison is an excellent speaker. I am so invested in this topic and I can't wait to participate in her other presentations. I think most of us understand that if a child had a "bad childhood" they are less likely to be successful, but I NEVER imagined to what degree this would affect a child. MIND BLOWING!!!!!

Very good course on a fascinating topic. It will give me perspective when working with some of my families and helps me to stay aware of my own parenting styles upon reflection of my own upbringing. The rat studies were especially interesting to me. The presenter was organized and did a fantastic job. If I had one very small critique, the presenter's overuse of the word "like" could be distracting at times. However, that would not stop me from recommending this course or reviewing it again.

Alison Peak is an excellent presenter who makes the information presented easy to understand. Her visual aid of a fist as the brain and frequent reference back to that model helped to tie the information together. I appreciate that she emphasized the impact of ACEs on development, but also stressed that given the right circumstances there is hope for the child who experienced ACEs.
