It may be time to update this course. I found the language to be outdated, like use of the term hearing impairment. And some of the language to be problematic, especially the frequent use of the word "burden" to describe how an adult felt about completing the accommodations that the IEP had placed as supports for these students. It is my understanding that the implementation of assistive technology is to assist the student.

I have only ever taken 2 other courses on this website. However, I prefered the other instructors and how they described things and the test style. There was a lot of dead space in this course, it was a little over an hour (1 hour, 6 minutes), some of the terminology (said kept referring to decreasing the burden on the para, which I didn't like how that was phrased...many paras don't feel burdened at all) was phrased negatively.

I really enjoyed this course. The presented provided straightforward, actionable information that made me more confident with my plan to transition into the school system. I would definitely be interested in taking any other school OT based courses she would offer.

The information was basic for those of us who already have experience as a school OT, but it was accurate information with good handouts. The speaker's presentation skills are not at a level that I would expect on this website as she takes many odd pauses without flow to her conversation and has a boring voice that took much effort to hold my attention; almost as if she did not practice or got nervous.

Much of the information is out of date. Using a chromebook with google classroom and speech to text app is available and utilized by all students, with or without an IEP. Some of the information is also directly correlated to her state (NY) and is different in other states.

I thought it was a tad basic. Since primarily OTs are taking these courses, I wish it would've been more detailed explanations and demos of specific AT (apps). The images were smaller in print than on screen and I wasn't able to read any text that coincided with the pictures. A good introductory course though.

If you know nothing about AT this course will give you some very, very basic information. The presenter did not seem to put a lot of effort into the delivery of the course. She should not have been saying "I hope the pictures are bigger for you" she should know how they look (they were way too small to be effective) before she is presenting. She stated this multiple times.
