Sham! Having the homeless hero on video definitely made an impact in this video. Also just OT being transparent about the character of different people in this community and letting them be themselves.

This is a brilliant presentation ! The presence of the eloquent Shams underscores the value of the work that Dr Synovec is doing. She has created a dialog with him that will have a 'ripple' effect throughout the homeless community. He enjoys OT and benefits from it. He uses it in his daily life, and also when he's stricken with covid. She is a powerhouse. (Does she know that ?) She has covered so much material. This is a true glimpse into the details of what it's like to be homeless. It's so easy to turn our backs on homelessness because it's so unclear what we can do to change things. She's given us an entire matched set of luggage full of strategies and insights. I'm inspired and hopeful. This video needs to be shared more publicly.

It was very helpful and informative to understand the impact of COVID within the homeless population from an OT perspective. I had been wondering how homeless shelters have been impacted, and this helped me gain a better understanding of that and many other areas of conern.

I run with a group of people experiencing homelessness in Indianapolis called Back on My Feet, which basically is OT at its best. This course helped me realize how differently the folks I run with are potentially experiencing this pandemic and how I can be more trauma informed in my conversations and interactions with them.

I am very grateful that the presenter brought in a person who exposed the real life situation that a lot of shelters deal with. During my fieldwork I was at the boarding house. There was no soap there neither. there were bed bugs too. the residents were charged a market rate. I still can not believe it was happening, and the management company was ok with that.

First... give Shams an honorary OTD! It was great to see how a progressive OT approaches the social components of an issue while addressing the more traditional OT roles. I wish more OTs took on social questions like the impending massive wave of evictions related to income loss due to COVID.

I work in an inpatient acute rehab setting in a metropolitan area and I think the number of patients that are entering our facility that are now homeless has increased significantly since this COVID-19 pandemic began and this has helped me understanding more of the challenges that this population is facing and has given me a lot of good ideas on tools/resources that I can begin to use during their acute rehab stay to help them hopefully become more successful in the community.

With this course, I thought about Occupational Therapy in a different way than I had in the past as I have little clinical experience with persons experiencing homelessness. I enjoyed learning something new. I also noted that some of the interventions would work with the patients I treat at an inpatient rehabilitation hospital in a small, college-town located in Northwest Tennessee.
