It is with great honor and anticipation that I announce our first ever virtual conference: Sensory Processing: Supporting People Across the Lifespan to Live Their Best Lives. The conference will be held November 4-8 from 1:30 to 2:30pm Eastern daily and led by Guest Editor Winnie Dunn, PhD, OTR, FAOTA. Dr. Dunn is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy Education at the University of Kansas and is internationally known for her work in sensory processing.

The live webinars will provide the learner with the opportunity to identify core patterns of sensory processing across the lifespan, link everyday behaviors to sensory processing patterns and describe how sensory processing knowledge can be incorporated into interventions (Dunn, 2013).

Each $99 virtual conference registration includes participation in all five courses along with a CEU Total Access membership to earn unlimited CEUs for one year. Save your seat today as space is limited!

Plus, to celebrate World Occupational Therapy Day on October 27, you can attend one of these courses in the virtual conference, or any course available on OccupationalTherapy.com, for FREE. Simply enter the promo code OTDAY13 on the payment screen. This code is valid until November 30.

Here is what you can expect each day of the conference:

Monday, November 4Sensory Processing Concepts: Tools for Supporting People to Create Their Own Satisfying Life.
Presenter: Winnie Dunn, PhD, OTR, FAOTA
This webinar will review Dunn’s Model of Sensory Processing and will incorporate examples of how sensory processing affects behavior in everyday life. Research on the effectiveness of intervention approaches will also be highlighted.

Tuesday, November 5:  Sensory Processing to Support Infants and Their Families
Presenter: Ellen Pope, OTD, OTR/L
Participants will learn about patterns of sensory processing and how they affect infants’ participation in activities and routines of daily life. Assessment and intervention for infants and their families will be reviewed and applied to case studies.

Wednesday, November 6:  Sensory Processing to Support Toddlers and Preschoolers and Their Families
Presenter:  Scott D. Tomchek, PhD, OT
This webinar will provide an overview of assessment and interventions to support sensory preferences creating challenges in the daily routines of toddlers and their families. Case studies will be used to illustrate application of assessment and intervention principles across selected early childhood contexts.

Thursday, November 7:  Sensory Processing to Support Adolescents and Their Teachers
Presenter:  Lauren Foster, OTD, OTR/L
This webinar will present information on sensory interventions that support adolescents. The presenter will apply sensory processing concepts to contexts and activities relevant to this population.

Friday, November 8:  Sensory Processing to Support Adults in Their Everyday Lives
Presenter:  Kristie Patten Koenig, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA
This final webinar will examine sensory processing in adults, with an emphasis on what hinders and supports participation in everyday life. Autistic adults have helped define the knowledge that can help practitioners partner with their clients and use a strength-based paradigm.

I hope that you will join our online OT community for this conference and great line-up of speakers.
