Kwasi Nkansa
OTD, OTR/L
Kwasi Nkansa, OTD, OTR/L is a licensed occupational therapist and healthcare educator with a background spanning acute care, outpatient rehabilitation, home health, and academia. Currently serving as the Lead Acute OT at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center, he spearheads clinical education initiatives, supervises staff training, and manages therapy services for a diverse caseload including stroke, orthopedic, cardiac, and metabolic patients. Dr. Nkansa also holds a remote faculty position at Boston University, where he mentors students and focuses on research in neurology and stroke rehabilitation.
He earned his Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Boston University, where his capstone project introduced the A.R.T.S. program—a hybrid, lifestyle-based stroke prevention initiative targeting young adults aged 21 to 40. He also holds a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from West Coast University and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and Biomedical Diagnostics from Michigan State University, where he contributed to epidemiological research on foodborne illnesses.
He is an active member of professional organizations, including the American Occupational Therapy Association, the American Academy of Neurology, and the National Black Occupational Therapy Caucus, and he is deeply engaged with community health initiatives through groups like the Community Coalition of South Los Angeles.
