It was a good overview. I felt there were many redundancies. I would have liked to see more specific examples of some of the strategies. Examples of assistive technologies to view maybe photos, videos. I would have liked to delve deeper into the the challenges of relationship of life partners. How can OT support couples challenges, find the humor or fun, especially for later in life diagnosed or self identified as autistic. Types of counselors to seek or services. Exercises for couples.

Learning that Autistic adults prefer to be know as Autistic Adults and not Adults with Autism. I work primarily with Autistic students who are nonverbal and can not communicate that preference to me. I have in the past referred to my students as students on the Autism spectrum (meaning absolutely no Disrespect to them), and I will no longer refer them in this way.

The course contains a lot of helpful information about autism and how to support autistic adult clients as an OT. I especially enjoyed hearing from Dr. Robertson. I found his delivery clear and personable, and it was very helpful to hear from someone who is an advocate and expert on autism as well as a member of the autistic community himself. I would like more detailed ideas for strategies for things like working with clients on executive functioning, if there were a follow up course. Thanks!

I am a recently retired school system OT. Since retirement, I have engaged with many parents of autistic adults who still experience shame and struggle with QOL of their adult children . I loved the perspective of a parent of an adult autistic child and ,very much , the perspective of an adult who was diagnosed as an adult.I have seen the change in attitude over the decades and appreciate all this validating info and resources. I have hope for more research and resources to come!

The closed captions were not synced with the presenters, making it difficult to follow along as someone who frequents closed captions. The transcript was helpful, but busy to follow. The "video" course was not a video - it would have better been described as a podcast, or someone also could have read the transcript, just as I did since captions were not working. The presenters were a bit busy with a lot of information, making me lose interest and it was difficult to follow.

I really liked this course because it dealt with the lived experience of autistic adults. So often people mostly hear about autistic children. Also, it is very true that autistic adults are often not even diagnosed as such until much later in life. I especially liked that the co-leader is an autistic adult with first-hand experience. There was a lot of great information and several strategies to improve participation in autistic adults.

I really enjoyed this class. This content is excellent and a good starting point If you are considering working with adults, or are already working with adults. I'm very excited to try some of these approaches. and very thankful for this informative review. My hope is that over the next 25 years autistic adults will have much more access to some of these environmental supports as well as to occupational therapy, even if they are not considered low functioning.

The presenters covered a lot of information and didn't waste any time doing it. Dr Robertson often talked very fast and so some of his words slurred together. This was an excellent refresher for me in the mental health setting as we have had adult patients admitted to our facility with a mental health diagnosis who also are autistic. Sometimes it is difficult to delineate whether certain aspects of the patient's presentation is due to mental health or autism. This course was helpful in reminding me of the challenges and strength that autistic persons may possess and how they may present.
