I loved how the instructor organized the course. She did a great job explaining and putting research into the topic. I liked how she put vagus nerve techniques in the course as well as micro mindfulness practices because I feel like most practitioners would have the time in the day to do them.

I am one of 15 therapists in a school for students with autism. Most of us have verbalized feeling burnout. I will take all the ideas back to my colleagues and hopefully we can begin to implement strategies on a daily basis.

I thought it rather ridiculous that a young PHD graduate is “educating “ a 25 yr COTA on work place stress lol kind of laughable. Most of us could have taught this course. She said herself that within her first 2 yrs of OT she felt stress…..welcome to the club. This statement isn’t to come off as rude. It’s rather ironic that some kid is telling us about work place stress.

Some of the information was good to review for me. I think burnout involves a lot more than listed which some of these techniques cannot help as much. I have worked 30 years in peds and my burnout is difficult parents, not getting paid on time, even a month late which was a continual issue, children that repeatedly attacked me without training for those situations. and a boss that didn't care about us or the safety and cleanliness of her practice. Glad I left finally.

I appreciate the topic. I'm a COTA/L in NY. I left the profession during the pandemic. I did not enjoy working with patients but I really hated the toxic people in the profession. I work in property management now and am much happier. I don't see myself going back but I worked so hard for my credentials, that's why I keep up with the continuing education. I only worked in OT for about 3 years.

Good content and flow for a topic we have all experienced. I will be using the physiological sighing. It seems like the best breathing technique that I have tried. I felt like you left off the home care field. out patient and community based doesn't cover those unique stressors including travel stressors and isolation stressors where for the best outcome for the patient you need a two person assist transfer and you are the only person available.
