In your study using stability balls instead of chairs, how did the teacher explain the introduction of the stability ball to the children in the classroom? What reason was given for switching from their chairs?
Answer
In our study the teachers introduced the stability balls by saying that the students were going to "try a new type of chair." We had a two week "wash out" phase during our intervention where we tried to account for this novely effect of the students using the stability balls, but other than the teachers telling the students they were going to be using a "new type of chair to let the researchers know whether they like the 'new chairs' or not", they were not given any other in-depth description of the purpose of this study.
