Question

How long do you recommend the low stim environment for patients post TBI? What signs or symptoms are you looking for to know that a child is ready for more stimulation?

Answer

It's based on their reaction, and/or their vital signs. As soon as they're starting to interact with the environment, track visually, or even auditorily, then they're ready for more stimulation. Then you need to monitor their heart rate and their blood pressure. Try to stimulate, but if everything jumps up, or the child becomes agitated, then you have to back off.
