Amy Andersen Yamaoda has her master’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Southern California. She is in her last semester of the University of Montana’s post-professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (ppOTD) program, completing a Capstone in perinatal mental health. For 15 years, she has practiced psychosocial occupational therapy with youth and adults across various settings, including community-based, forensic, inpatient, and outpatient mental health. Before her recent move to NY, she worked as a Senior Occupational Therapist in the Mental Health and Addictions Services department of El Camino Health, in Mountain View, CA. In addition to developing and implementing Occupational Therapy (OT) interventions within El Camino’s perinatal mental health and adult dual diagnosis programs, Amy served as a treatment team member of DBT-based intensive outpatient programs for youth. Amy led groups and developed DBT-based OT group protocols for several programs, focusing on middle school-age clients. She has completed DBT training and holds certifications in perinatal mental health, infant massage, pregnancy, and postpartum corrective exercise. Following her recent move, she has taught psychosocial OT as an adjunct and guest lecturer. She has recently become involved with the OT Mental Health Task Force.
