The instructor was clearly knowledgable in the subject matter. This was an introductory course however I think more example of writing and maybe more specific research findings would have made it more useful. She gave some strategies for how to work with students on writing but I think more examples could have been provided. I am an OT in the school system so I am aware of strategies so I just think a more specific strategies in this course would have been helpful.

Good for an introductory course - maybe a bit too much time on back ground / before 4th grade handwriting development. Good info about importance of self motivation for student's ability to improve. Good details about keyboarding and good resources provided to help the student who is interested in their own improvement.

Weakly evidenced. Presenter draws causal conclusions from epidemiological evidence: better handwriting = better standardized testing scores, when in reality that is simply an association and may have more to do with dedication to the process and learning habits, emphasis on writing in relation to socioeconomics, etc. Makes limited connection to school-based scope of practice (function vs. excellence).
