Wow loved this course was the only course of its kind I could find and do relevant for the times. Loved the inclusive language ideas and the cognitive reframing of how practitioners should intersect and speak with members of the LGBTQ+ population. Beautiful quote too “ When I. Doubt, be human” Thanks for all the ideas and info.

What made this course good was how it deepened my practical understanding of working with LGBTQIA+ clients in occupational therapy. It strengthened my awareness of personal bias, inclusive language, and structural barriers that impact access to care. The content helped me approach clients with greater cultural humility, respect, and confidence, ensuring my practice remains affirming, client-centered, and equitable.

I loved that this course wasn't the same old information on a topic I've already studied in various classes. I actually learned new things about the dimensions of gender and real-world examples of best practices for how I speak with or can affirm a variety of people in my work and personal life.

I have a question about how "they" impacts accuracy in charting and conveying accurate information about the number of people that receive information... It has been a frequent problem for my husband that scribes are instructed to identify everyone with they/them pronouns, but this often causes a lot of problems with the implications this makes on who has received, acknowledged or engaged in making a decision about a patient's care when a loved one is attending their session...

Honestly, as a 2SLGBTQIA+ community member and clinician I usually enter into these continuing education opportunities with hesitation because often times I end up having to educate the presenters because they themselves are NOT members of our community and their information is outdated, at best, and inflammatory at worst. THIS course is EXCELLENT and expansive even for an introductory level course! Both presenters were confident, competent, affirming, sensitive, and empathetic! TY4that ~Phoenix

To me there was too much focus on the basics of gender identity and sexual orientation. As a healthcare provider I wanted more actionable information to help me provide better care past just asking someone’s pronouns. Especially since 99% of the time I am not dealing with who they are sleeping with and have been careful to ask how someone is related to not assume relationship for the decade plus I’ve been practicing.

As a practitioner in a school setting, we are seeing more and more middle and high school students who are expressing gender orientation that differs from what is seen in their charts. These students may or may not have support from their families. This course provided sensitive and definitive ways to work on personal biases as well as systematic biases in the school and to provide clarity for working with groups of young people as well as individuals. It is such an important time for this topic
