I like how mental health is talked about more in the OT field. I enjoyed the course because it covered simple stratagies of how an OTA can help patients and they don't have to have any professional certification. I am looking forward to the future courses, discussing how to deal with suicidal idations.

I believe that I my education has been bought up-to-date since my last experience within the area of mental health within a Adult Day and Assisted Living situation. My first experience as an OT was in a Psych. Hospital for almost 25 years, so I have gained an even more appreciation and feel in retrospect that I wished I was able to be an Advocate for the importance of the area of Mental Health, especially in the present time of awareness.

I often work with patient with mental health problem and it's true that a patient come to you about their mental health problem because they trust you and put enough confidence in you to talk to you about the situation. Listen is a very important asset to understanding the individual situation. Ways I felt helpful is asking questions so that one can know the best way to approach the situation.
