Although I feel this course stretched a little to relate to occupational therapy as a profession, I am wholly in support of everything the instructor is educating on. The epic level of waste in healthcare facilities alone causes me tremendous concern. Thank you for all the reminders on things we can do to support the environment

Presented various methods to learning, research based and practical application into the present day. It challenges us to be the models needed for our future within our own small communities, patients/people we treat and provide services to, and the larger global impacts we can make in even small steps. Thank you for this presentation!

Loved it!! I have roots in AL so I loved hearing the professor talk about making her community more walkable; it's very car-centered in AL for sure. I also loved learning about the causative factors towards climate change. I also liked hearing about applications for sustainability in OT. Incredible.

The course reinforced sustainability practices at home. Thank you for resources such as zero waste store. I appreciate the encouragement to use what we have and not get more. I also appreciate the suggestion for birthday parties to have a toy swap or buy toys at a consignment shop. It was also good information to know that a large percentage of what is bought on Black Friday is used only once.Thank you for the information on medical consortium in U.S. that has information for hospitals.

I wonder if this format would afford me the same opportunity to educate other occupational therapists on the importance of encouraging our clients to be independent in self-care and in occupation, in order to relieve the welfare system, promote well adjusted childcare, and limit the strain on the healthcare system due to maladaptive health behaviors.

While I think the models have merit and the instructor did well preparing; I think that we are OTs that provide personalized services to improve outcomes for the pt and family members. That said, we are not activists and there are many other resources that show that climate change in the way that the government pushes on the community is a scam. Less activism and more holistic and therapeutic care is warranted.

Citing the presenter: And I don't want my kids to live in a world where historically out of controlwildfires are commonplace and people in third world countries are dying more and more due todecreased water quality, insect borne illness or malnutrition from desertification. The term third-world countries is incorrect or outdated. It has been this way for many years.

I questioned OT as a profession taking on the role of therapist / consultant versus just being a responsible citizen like all people ... now I realize we are the Profession that deals with Occupational practices of all kind and so we are in a good position to shape the minds of our clients in a way that is responsible and beneficial to society.

Very thought provoking. Any OT in any neighborhood or with children in schools can increase awareness in these communities and be the impetus for change and creating opp for change. Thus does not mean we can’t educate or implement changes just because we aren’t getting reimbursed. It’s things we can do as volunteers and good citizens. But, it is a great tool to promote the value of OT and our passion to promote excellence in the engagement of every occupation.
