Wow this course is amazing, I am going to share much of the transcript with the parents at the preschool I work with who keep askiing me if their children are ready for TK? This course is packed with information highlighting the importance of play and not rushing a child's development with academics and allowing them the time to learn through play. The benefits of play are endless as seen in this class. I highly reccomend this class for early educators and OT's

This course was informative however it had too many topics in one. It should have focus more on the aspect of play or the aspect of center time. It would have been more informative if it focus on more activities relating to play and how to engage the children I. The play activities.

This information is accessible and easy to explain to school staff. The course provided understanding that the standards set by the administration and state are imposed on teachers who already have limited resources and time to meet the individual needs of their students. I particularly like the way in which the instructor explained that our role of therapists is to join the classroom and model to the school staff how to support students explore through play rather than direct them.

It has been so hard to see how academic PK and K have become, and the behavioral consequences. It is crazy to think that 85 % of teachers feel like what they are teaching is not developmentally appropriate, yet continue to teach in this manner.

Play and learning go hand-in-hand. I like that this shows that it is evidence based with application examples. Also, the bit about allowing children to be immature longer allows them to be more flexible adults is interesting. Exploring instead of being shown the "right" way opens the world for all of us. Thank you for your presentation.

I have been disappointed to see play and creativity on the decrease in our preschools and elementary schools in the last few decades. I am glad to see that this course encourages therapists and educators to remember that play is the way children learn. The course gave good ideas about how to breathe some life into academic-type OT goals that otherwise can be flat and uninviting.

When I started as an OT most preschool programs I went into were extremely play based, and now, especially after Covid, the opposite is true and people are so worried about loss of academicsc, and I feel like most therapists are following along with this. This course was a refreshing look at the importance of play bringing me back to my roots. Thank you. Ps— my daughter has expressed her dislike of fundations too.
