The course was based on Daniel Siegel and he gives advice based on his New Age Religion of Hermeticism and Gnosticism with mystical beliefs. He believes you can construct yourself and make your own subjective truth with altered conscientiousness. In occupational therapy, each client should be respected, and occupational therapists should not push a religion on clients. Siegel's work is his Hermetic/Gnostic religion with the spiritual self-based in New Age cosmology, astrology, esotericism.

This course has really opened my eyes regarding how the teenage brain works as a therapist and a mother! I have always believed it was hormones as that is what my mother made me feel. Your care and compassion about teenagers is very evident. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and now have a new outlook on my teenage students and son!

I like how she engaged with them even going and sitting at lunch.

I enjoyed hearing the out of the box examples of treatment ideas. It sounds like they blended well into the students’ routines & interests. I took this for personal reasons as I have two teens. I work in early intervention. I like the idea of using dogs during therapy- for any age. I have a black lab, too!

The instructor presented material in a very organized manner and made reference to research, statistics, and books on subject matter. She also provided specific examples of adolescents whom she treated, and interventions that she used to elicit positive outcomes and generalization of learning. Adolescents developed skills that they could apply in different situations across contexts, thus developing abilities not just remediating a skill during a treatment session.
