I love the presenter's passion and interest for the teenage population, who frequently get dismissed for a variety of reasons. It has deepened my school OT practice and made me think a lot more about how I go about providing services for my high schoolers. The presenter has a couple other teenager courses which I would recommend listening to in sequence with this one.

I learned that during the remodeling in adolescence, the brain prunes itself to specialize the brain via having the opportunity to explore what they are passionate about. Knowing that this stage is very crucial, it is important to encourage the adolescent and provide opportunities to pursue their found interest.

OTR/L, Tere Bowen-Irish did a great job teaching us how to differentiate between a developing teen brain and a young child who would be in elementary school's brain. There are neurodevelopment theories that have added to our understanding. We all know that teenagers don't have fully developed frontal lobes. Sleep is so important and it impacts their overall well-being & academic performance. The brain is pruning and re-modeling itself. OT's can make a difference in these children's lives.
