The OT instructor was an excellent teacher who provided a variety of learning modules (videos, charts, mock case study, review of concepts, etc. She repeatedly reaffirmed how each OT is unique and brings a different perspective in the eval and treatment process. I love the way she thinks! I want to be able to incorporate a 'Chop Challenge' method (folding in art and creativity into treatment progression) while also integrating Fell's 12 methods of progression.

This course focused on knowledge and tools that are familiar to all therapists but brought a novel perspective with which to apply the knowledge and tools. Rather than reiterating treatment rationales and models for therapeutic interventions, this instructor focused on generating ideas for application of familiar tools and knowledge bases which fosters inventiveness and creativity while striving to create unique and individualized treatments that fit specific children. Excellent!

The course provided new ideas for treatment expansion. The speaker was clear and knowledgeable about the topic and explained it well. Most of the treatment ideas were suitable for school-aged children who are cognitively able to follow instructions. However, they are more challenging to implement in an early intervention (EI) setting with children who have lower awareness and comprehension skills.

So the concepts weren’t novel to me because the idea of progressions is very similar to OT‘s grading up and grading down, but what I really liked about the presentation was the examples that specifically showed how OT and PT can incorporate each other‘s goals but at the same time still stay in our scope of practice and still bring novelty, measurable activities and structure in our sessions.

This was by FAR the most beneficial online course I’ve done! It was practical, creative, and presented with novel ways of performing mundane tasks. I love how she used standardized assessments as a foundation for treatment without creating goals that are solely based on “teaching to the test.” I have many new ideas to use following this course. As on OT who has been practicing for 19 years, it was fresh and engaging. Thank you!
