I was expecting to learn more of how to teach social and emotional skills but the course was mostly focused on sensory strategies which, while i understand they have a big impact on a students readiness and ability to learn, there is a lot more to teaching social and emotional skills. I would have liked to learn different strategies on how to develop social and emotional skills especially in cases of kids with history of trauma and significant behavioral issues. Thanks!

Kim is passionate about Occupational Therapy and her specific role as a school based therapist. I love her positive outlook and creative mind to figuring out an OT's role specifically in the social and emotional learning...we are experts in sensory modulation and have lots to offers students/teachers in the school setting. She gives us more tools to help us navigate within our specialty domain and OT framework.

The examples and case studies, in particular, are what made this course a game changer. She was able to provide justifications and reasonings to behaviors in the classroom and provide concise assessments and clinical reasonings that root in OT principles which can often be blurred with the chaos of the school systems and its various components.

Really clear explanation of the Tier system and why interventions at Tier 1 Level can actually benefit everyone if you can manage to get them done.
