This training introduces participants to the foundations of self‑regulation and how the brain and body work together during moments of stress, frustration, or overwhelm that often impact functional performance. Through practical strategies, real‑life examples, and reflective activities, learners explore ways to implement interventions that support clients in managing emotional, behavioral, and sensory responses. The session emphasizes strengths‑based, trauma‑informed approaches that support resilience, flexible thinking, and effective participation across daily routines.

Dr. Audrie Vantangoli, MOT, OT, OTR, is a pediatric occupational therapist with a focus on sensory integration, behavioral interventions, and self-regulation. She achieved a Sensory Integration Certification (#2475) through the University of Southern California. As a school-based occupational therapist, she determined there was a strong need for occupational therapy services that focus on underlying concerns related to sensory, primitive reflexes, and selfregulation that do not always relate to academic concerns addressed in the school setting. She then opened a private practice with the intent to help fill these gaps. Get A Grip Occupational Therapy bridges this gap by offering a full array of services including home-based services that focus on individualized goals, groups for skill building, parent coaching, consultation with families, providers and schools, school-based contracts for evaluation and treatment. In 2025, she presented her research, Sensory Strategies to Prevent Maladaptive Behaviors in the Educational Setting: A Continuing Education Course, to the AOTA Conference in Philadelphia, PA.
