As an OT who graduated in 1980, I was happy to see this course. All OT departments used to having sewing machines and therapists that knew how to sew. We used to have to sew all straps, use d-rings and metal rivets to secure straps to splints. Adhesive Velcro was a fantastic invention, but not great for everything. I have a sewing machine at home, but I’ve used a needle, thread and a thimble to sew strapping when needed. It doesn’t have to fancy. Great instructor,

I benefited very much from Cameron's teaching style. It has been many years since I worked in Hand Therapy so I recognized a lot of the terms but had forgotten some of the anatomy. He visually and audibly taught what he was referring to, for example A1 Pulley, which took out all of the guessing and trying to remember. My husband, who works as a Civil Engineer, was listening in the background to this presentation and he also enjoyed it and learned.

The name of the course was confusing to me. I thought that it would be about using sewing as a therapeutic modality, and/or adaptations that can be made to modify sewing as an ADL.Maybe a more precise course title would be "Sewing Hand-made Splints for Hand Therapy: Treatment and Measurement Tool". The instructor was great, but the course content was unexpected. If I worked in hand therapy this course would have been perfect!!
