I could tell the presenter was passionate about this topic, but I felt the organization was a bit hard to follow. I would have liked to see more emphasis on the role of OT in mental health with kids and less individual statistics (I love research and statistics, but I think if it was summarized more clearly we could have spent more time developing the role of OT in this population).

Good topic of discussion - certainly have a deeper insight and perspective of the impact of COVID pandemic/isolation/virtual school engagement (or lack thereof) in school aged students. But it was more statistical reporting and presented as such. Would have really loved therapeutic intervention ideas, shared experience connections and actual "name redacted" student cases Dr. Keen dealt with. Kept looking at the time wondering when she'd start connecting dots versus talking about the dots.

I liked Dr. Keen's discussions regarding COVID-19 and the lasting impact on mental health and how mental health continues to be challenging for parents, teachers, and students and her discussion around trauma informed care and getting the individual to talk about events. I totally agree and loved that Dr. Keen discussed that every interaction is an intervention.

The emphasis on mental health issues in all children and how different circumstances can all be impactful made it good. There were a lot of statistics and the information about adolescent mental health was a little confusing when just listening (I did audio, not video, so it wasn't really clear that depression vs. anxiety was the most increased after COVID. It was a good reminder that every interaction can be impactful.

Adolescent mental health is a complicated area. Adolescents in today’s environment have so many additional stressors than previous generations. This course did an excellent job relating mental health struggles to known stressors, but additional emphasis on new technologies and the potential to increase isolation amongst today ‘s adolescents or the ability for new technologies to connect people could be explored further.

The course was a helpful look into how the pandemic impacted and continues to impact young people. The test questions could have been more clear. One question asked which mental health diagnosis increased for adolescents due to the pandemic. It stated that the answer "anxiety" was incorrect. However, in the course, it was stated that "Studies during the COVID period showed that adolescents experienced increased rates of depression, anxiety, PTSD, misbehavior, poor attention, and impulsivity."

Citing statistics assisted with understanding how each age demographic was affected in different ways and/or degrees. I enjoyed learning about the ACE concept and all the specific underlying information. *I believe the acronym ACE was used in the PowerPoint w/o defining the term as Adverse Childhood Experiences. I recommend ensuring acronyms are defined prior to usage. Defining ACE came later in the PowerPoint. That said, I enjoyed the presentation and thought it was quite beneficial.
