I don't feel that there were a lot of interventions listed other than reviewing the study. It would've been better for me as a learner to go into specific intervention strategies - what we already use and how that works for children with HIE, as well as what we may have been using historically that may not be indicated for this population.

The speaker was very knowledgeable about HIE with her 25 years of experience, but hearing directly from a parent who is impacted by a diagnosis of HIE was really helpful in looking at the whole picture of treating the whole child and not just their diagnosis.

Presenter was very easy to follow and course was very organized. The video of Katie and her daughter were very impactful and I hope all who work with families and children will follow her advice and insights. I have worked in Early Intervention for over 35 years and what Katie said validates how I have tried to interact with the families I have seen over the years. Parents are the experts on their own child

Helpful. I enjoyed the case study and the information from the parent. I think that it could be helpful to have more information for differing outcomes of HIE. I am trying to gain a better understanding from the medical side of how HIE is related to IVH and effective treatments through early intervention. It would be helpful to understand a little bit better about how Vojta and NDT techniques might look in the Early Intervention Setting.

Thanks for the reminder to consider both physical and socioemotional needs of both patient and caregiver. So very important as we have hands and eyes on the patient for a short time, but these families and caregivers are there 24/7. Also, I had never heard of the Votja method, but will definitely look into this. Several interventions mentioned can be integrated into my very next session...thanks for a great course! I will definitely recommend this one to my OT colleagues.

Dr. Mehra as excellent in all the information she provided, especially the assessments that I was not familiar with. I also enjoyed the video that she shared of Katie and Jolene as she provided additional insight that I think as therapists we forget or neglect to consider. I also liked the various adaptive equipment/devices presented in the video. As an adaptive ski instructor, it also helped me understand some of the difficulties associated with HIE and how I can improve my assessments.

This course was organized very well and I really enjoyed the case study interventions. It provided a breakdown of the reasoning behind each intervention, specific examples of activities you used to complete them, and the WHY behind how they'll help children with HIE. I also thought the video from Kate was touching; so important to hear from actual patients and/or family members and caregivers about how these things affect them and what they feel could be improved.

I found the parent perspective to be extremely helpful as a reminder to slow down during my treatments and assess the family as a whole (not just the infant) and how their diagnosis impacts not just their development, but their environment, caregiver's, etc. As an OT that works in inpatient rehab with an entire hospital floor dedicated to infant, this was very helpful in guiding some treatment interventions and producing home programs.

I really appreciate the presenter including a parent as part of the presentation. What parents know that varied professionals may not, is that the OT treatments must be incorporated throughout the day outside of OT in order for a skill to generalize. Unfortunately, when multiple health professionals are involved, they can contradict each other on what is most important issue/treatment leaving a parent panicking and at odds with the health team.
