Nicole Quint is so knowledgeable. This course has important and useful content but I think it would have been a more effective if the presentation were spread over 3 hours and more examples were given of the different evaluations, approaches, role of OT in addressing social emotional learning and self-regulation.

I realized how much I don't know and areas for growth within my practice. Not sure where to go for additional training. Almost seems like an executive functioning coach. Not sure how this could fit covering multiple building, too many students, etc., but seems like a huge missing piece for so many students- which is not addressed well by school districts.

The slides/graphics and rate at which unfamiliar SEL concepts (at least to this SBOT) were introduced was a little overwhelming and disorganized at times. The case studies were more helpful, particularly Jojo's. I would have liked for her to talk a little more about how she takes on SEL as a part of her role as an SBOT where caseloads are already so high and other disciplines may be better equipped to provide that support

This course taught me a lot of great thinking skills, the importance of using a top-down approach, looking at occupations, and how skill deficits impact occupational performance. Moving forward, I will definitely keep in mind the 3 types of control that go into self-regulation. The presenter also did a great job of explaining the education that needs to occur to facilitate self-regulation, with emphasis on practice.
