This course will identify normal aging principles and successful aging principles as well as identify normal age-related dysfunctions. Implementation of these principles into clinical goals and interventions will also be addressed.

This is part two of a two-part series on Parkinson's disease. This course focuses on the use of appropriate and specific outcomes to develop a person-centered, occupation-based approach to treatment of individuals with Parkinson's disease.

This course presents the importance of early mobility, including research which has linked early power mobility to specific developmental skills. Augmented mobility, providing power mobility to very young children primarily for developmental benefits, will also be addressed.

This case study will examine assessments and a problem-based approach to the conservative treatment of the osteoarthritic thumb. Evidence-based treatment approaches will be presented including orthoses, the dynamic stability approach, and joint protection interventions.

Patients experiencing delirium during their hospital admission have an increased mortality rate, increased hospital length of stay, and decreased level of functional independence for ADL/IADL performance at discharge. Occupational therapists are well positioned to provide meaningful interventions to aid in prevention and management of delirium.

This course will provide an overview of diverse sensory processing approaches and interventions with the aim of better articulating their role, efficacy and value across diverse populations and settings.

It will also explore the physical demands of childcare related tasks and the risk factors associated with these activities and environment in which they are performed as well as practical strategies for prevention of injury.

This course will help OTR’s and COTA’s increase knowledge and confidence when working in the dynamic, and often chaotic, world of home health. OT professionals will learn the fundamentals and helpful, practical tips to enhance their home health experience with adult and older adult clients.

People are both social and sensory beings. Their ability to engage with their lives and other people depends on their ability to interact in satisfying ways. Since each person has distinct sensory processing patterns, we must consider these sensory patterns as we support people to have a satisfying life. In this course, we will explore ways to support people in authentic places and activities and how to ensure that professional efforts generalize to peoples' entire lives.
