CEU Courses for OTs

Part one of this series will cover Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a group of genetic conditions affecting the body’s connective tissue. This discussion provides the current research evidence on EDS classification, diagnosis, sequela, clinical presentation, and occupational therapy management.

Wrist fractures are one of the most common traumatic injuries of the upper extremity, which could result from a fall on an outstretched hand. Owing to the relationship between the distal radius and the proximal row of carpal bones, diagnosis can be challenging at times. This webinar reviews the functional anatomy of the wrist, impairments, and rehabilitation strategies following conservative and surgical treatments.

Through both lecture and experiential material, attendees will learn about the importance and benefits of mindful movement on developing brains and bodies and how movement effects learning and behavior in 3-5 year-olds. They will also learn several fun & effective yoga poses, sensory movement games, songs and relaxation techniques to use with young clients for enhancing optimal learning and self-regulation skills.

This course will describe the OT role in early assessment and treatment of the infant born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. We will discuss unique challenges of feeding, developmental, sensory and behavioral difficulties. Case studies will be used to review evidenced based and practical strategies that can be used to foster a strengths-based and family-centered approach to care.

Strategies for neurologic rehabilitation interventions in the home care setting will be discussed in this course. With creativity, dynamic neuro-rehabilitative interventions can be delivered safely to make significant impacts for individuals who are receiving occupational therapy at home.

This seminar provides an overview of anatomy and physiology of normal voiding and muscle function related to continence. Different types of incontinence are identified, and assessment/treatment strategies are offered for each. The role of OT in continence improvement is explored.

Forces impacting the development of complex postural problems and destructive and healthy supported lying postures for persons with limited mobility will be discussed in this course.

On the podcast, we will discuss the role of the occupational therapist in the evaluation and treatment of children with cerebral visual impairment (CVI). We will discuss how CVI affects performance in activities of daily living. This is part of the Continued Learning Podcast series.

An access method is used by the client to control assistive technology devices, such as power wheelchairs and speech generating devices. Single or multiple switches can be used for access, though careful switch assessment is required to determine optimal switch placement and switch type to meet an individual’s needs.
